Trainor was born in Plantation, Florida to Indian parents. His mother was from Darjeeling, India to a Bengali Hindu family and his father was from Jammu, India to a Pashto Muslim family. He is part Indian Bengali descent and part Indian Pashtun descent.

Aside from acting, he has a black belt, in Taekwondo, like fellow Disney actors Leo Howard and Billy Unger. He is the youngest Disney actor to have a black belt.

He was also seen in the independent film The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone.
In an interview, he said that auditioning for parts on shows on Disney Channel or Nickelodeon are easier because on adult network shows, kids are more likely to have walk-on roles, if any.[2]
