Relationship[]

Liv is the smart, funny, popular, and talented one of the twins. Maddie is the tough and more rational one.

Ever since they were little it has always been "Liv and Maddie" (as stated by Pete in Twin-A-Rooney). They grew up together and were best friends. But, when Liv went away to film her TV show, Sing it Loud!, the two grew apart and drastically changed. They would not see each other for four years. The two twins are polar opposites: Liv is a diva who likes to act and sing; Maddie is a tough athlete who has a more boyish behaviour. But the two are still very close and despite these differences, they remain best friends. It is common knowledge that they love each other, but they often get into fights (mostly about Diggie, in season 1). In seasons 2 and 3, they are shown to have not argued as much and like to help each other out as much as possible, but Maddie does, however, hate it when Liv interferes in her love life as said in Secret-Admirer-A-Rooney, and Liv is willing to do anything for Maddie as said in Scoop-A-Rooney, when she agrees to let Maddie talk to Diggie about the fact she is now dating Josh, even though Liv has promised Holden she will sort out the rumour that she is dating Josh and not Holden. Then in SkyVolt-A-Rooney, Liv is willing to give up Voltage just so that she and Maddie can go to college together. However, Liv and Maddie do fight easily as seen in Californi-A-Rooney when Liv gets angry at Maddie for not passing up her scholarship to SCSU for her, since she gave up Voltage for her, and it goes as far as Liv not wanting Maddie back. However, after looking at memories, they both realize they were wrong and make up. In Season 4, the two are able to be together in California and support each other. In Sing It Live!!!-A-Rooney, Maddie is very worried about Liv's throat and supports her when she has to sing live on TV. Maddie tries to stop Liv from performing to prevent any further damage, but Liv does it anyway, causing her voice to get worse. Maddie says she is "so proud" of Liv, but she comments that her voice is really bad and Maddie takes Liv off to the hospital.
