Trivia[]

  • The scenes where Liv and Maddie talk to each other use special cloning technology for live-action shows.
    • Acting body doubles (Emmy Buckner for Liv and Shelby Wulfert for Maddie) are used so Dove has a person to react to during the scene. The scene is shot with Dove as one sister before re-shooting it with Dove doing the other, followed by editing both takes together later. The backs of the doubles' heads are used during behind shots to make it look like there are twins.
    • During scenes where both sisters are on the screen at the same time, the camera has to remain stationary and the sisters cannot be within a distance of each other; crossing over that territory causes them to disappear.
  • This is currently the only show ever on Disney Channel to have the lead portray two characters throughout the whole series.
  • This is the second series on Disney to be focused on twins. The first was The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and the spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck.
  • The cast filmed the final episode of the series on June 27, 2016.[18]
  • Like Hannah Montana had Hannah Montana Forever as a new title for the fourth season, Liv and Maddie changes their title to Liv and Maddie: Cali Style.
  • The only episodes that do not feature the body doubles are Brain-A-Rooney, Kathy Kan-A-Rooney, New Year's Eve-A-Rooney, Haunt-A-Rooney, Ask Her More-A-Rooney, Linda and Heather-A-Rooney, Sing It Louder!!-A-Rooney, and Roll Model-A-Rooney.
  • In September 2016, Liv and Maddie rebranded as Liv and Maddie: Volvo has a collaboration with Volvo Cars.
  • The original title was Bits and Pieces and also had a completely different concept, which had nothing to do with twins.
  • The series was on Netflix since May 3, 2015, but was removed on April 23, 2021 to be moved to Disney+.
  • All of the episode titles have "-A-Rooney" embedded in them.
