Dodge-A-Rooney is the seventh episode in season 1 of Liv and Maddie. It aired on November 3, 2013 and received 3.3 million total viewers.
Overview
When Liv decides to volunteer at the senior center where Maddie works, chaos ensues and the seniors get the girls involved in a game of dodge ball to claim their turf. Meanwhile, Diggie puts Joey and Skippy as Paulie the Porcupine's protectors. But when the porcupine breaks Parker gives them "Parker's Paste".[1]

The episode opens with Maddie coming into the kitchen to tell her mother how much fun she had doing community service at the senior center, as part of a community service campaign at Ridgewood High, run by Karen. Liv on the otherhand has signed up for "Beautify Wisconsin" which both Karen and Maddie know isn't exactly what Liv thinks it is. Liv then comes into the kitchen in filth, explaining her realization that "Beautify Wisconsin" actually isn't what she thought, going door to door giving makeovers, but instead is a service to help clean up the area. She spent two hours in a ditch picking up anything people threw out of their cars: cigarette buds, potato chip bags, and most humiliating of all, the season 1 DVD of Sing It Loud!. In the next scene, Diggie is speaking to a crowd of students at Ridgewood High, explaining that on Friday night the school will play their biggest rivals: the Fairview Tiger Sharks. He announces that the Tiger Sharks try to steal their mascot, Paulie the Porcupine, every year. Because of that, they leave a freshman to guard to the mascot every year and this year, he is putting Joey and Skippy in charge. The students cheer for them and Joey reveals in a confession that if they successfully keep Pauli safe, they'll get the honor of hanging the first bratwurst link around Paulie's neck. Next, Maddie is at the senior center with the "Silver Steppers," training them while they exercise. She tells the audience in a confessional that she likes being with them so much because they don't see her as one half of Liv and Maddie but they just see her as Maddie (even though they do keep calling her Addie). Soon, Liv excitedly pops in and tells Maddie she's thinking of volunteering at the senior center. Maddie tries to get her not to by telling her there's a waiting list for volunteers. In reality, Maddie just needed space from Liv. In the next scene, Pete is outside polishing his new grill, "The Fire Magic Smokehouse Delux," is very excited to use it and telling Karen about it. Parker then comes in very disappointed because his scooter broke after he and his eight other friends rode on it together. After Pete tells him there is no glue strong enough to piece a strong scooter back together, Parker sets himself on inventing a glue himself. Next at Ridgewood, Diggie is talking to Joey and Skippy about making sure nothing happens to Paulie, their good luck charm. Diggie tells Joey he's the muscle and Joey feels great honor. Once Diggie leaves, Joey and Skippy decide that they'll need to make sure Fairview can't get anywhere near Pauli and they must think of a master plan. A few moments later, Diggie comes over to scare the two while guarding the statue and hear them scream. But he ends up being the one screaming after he notices Joey, Skippy, and Paulie are gone. Maddie is at the senior center doing jumping jacks with the seniors. Janet, a senior, keeps going even after they stop telling Maddie that thanks to her she's practically bionic. A moment later, Liv comes in with a group of citizens of her own in a "cha-cha" line. They finish off their routine in a horizontal line with jazz hands. Liv tells Maddie that she stopped off at the office and found out that they actually did have more spots so now she's volunteering for the show choir, "The Golden Chords." Maddie, not wanting to hurt Liv's feelings, tells her she is so glad that she's came. Joey and Skippy have taken the statue to the Rooney's backyard and are hanging it from an oak tree, suspended in the air. Skippy is concerned that Joey's parents will find out but when the two come in, they don't notice a thing because Karen islooking at her phone and Pete is too focused on grilling. Once they leave, Joey and Skippy excitedly discuss what it will be like hanging the bratwurst around Paulie. They unzip their sweatshirts and yell "Boo-Yah!" revealing a shirt on each of them that says "Boo," on Joey's, and "Yah," on Skippy's, together to make "Boo-Yah."
